Lil Wayne is an American rapper hailing from New Orleans. As a teenager he joined up with Cash Money Records and released his first album in 1997 as the youngest member of the Hot Boys. After a second Hot Boys album Lil Wayne launched his solo career with his debut solo album, Tha Block is Hot. The album went double platinum and reached the number three spot on Billboard's album chart. His next two albums were less successful and Lil Wayne decided to make his fourth release as an underground mixtape in 2003. The rapper's career took off again in 2004 with his hit album, Tha Carter. His success has continued with multiple hit albums and mixtapes in recent years.
